Graphic novels: storytelling, process & business w/ Hari Conner
Meet Ups, Online Events, TalksRough Draft – our Edinburgh illustrator meet-up – are excited to be joined online by their first ever guest speaker: Edinburgh-based, award-winning author and illustrator, Hari Conner for a short presentation on their work.
This will be followed by an ‘Ask Me Anything’ to learn more about Hari’s illustration, comics process, graphic novels and publishing.
Primarily working in longform comics, Hari mostly draws and writes fantasy, historical and LGBT+ romance, often at the same time. Their gamebooks include the ENNIE-nominated Into the Dungeon, and their comics include the multi-award-winning webcomic Finding Home. Their most recent graphic novel I Shall Never Fall In Love was a Waterstones and bookshop.org Best YA 2024.
You can see more of Hari’s work on hari-illustration.com and on Instagram, Tumblr, and Bluesky as @haridraws
At Rough Draft, we welcome illustrators from all backgrounds, styles, and experience levels to join us – regardless of if you are a member of the AOI or not, so please come along and invite other illustrators to grab tickets to our February talk and AMA with Hari Conner.
At Hari’s talk, we’ll be:
- Hearing briefly from the Association of Illustrators
- Learning about Hari’s experience first as an author-illustrator-editor in the UK independent comics scene, then working remotely with US publishers.
- Opening up for your questions!
Submit your questions in advance by reaching out to us on IG at @roughdraft_edi, or by sending us an email at [email protected] – we’re looking forward to hearing from you! There are no silly questions, and those we get in advance will also help us shape the talk – so if you’re keen, get them in early.
