6 Questions for Emma Sutton

Emma Sutton is an illustrator, self described 'paper tearing punk' and recent graduate from University of Lancashire.

Using needle felting as her medium of choice, Emma creates colourful beings who come alive in intricate dioramas, acting out everyday scenes to the viewer's delight.

In this feature, Emma tells us more about the process behind her handmade works, and the surprising adaptability felt gives her when creating her cast of characters.

How did you discover or get started with creating felt characters?

I started needle felting about twenty years ago when I was given a book about felting for Christmas. I?d always enjoyed sculpting 3D models and characters out of modelling clay and salvaged finds, and I found the needle felting
