Ink & Resilience / Drawn In, Manchester illustrators meet-up
Meet Ups, TalksJoin Manchester illustrators meet-up to hear four inspiring stories from illustrators whose creative practice has helped them to overcome challenge and build resilience.
OUR INCREDIBLE SPEAKERS INCLUDE:
Pita Santos is a Queer Filipino illustrator, graphic designer, and zine maker based in Stockport. Pita co-founded Caterpillar Press and Studio Haluhalo, amplifying underrepresented voices and creating inclusive spaces for artists. Their talk will focus on overcoming industry challenges, building community, and claiming space for marginalised creatives.
Ollie Hirst is an award-winning conceptual illustrator and mentor based in Manchester. As a lifelong cardiac pacemaker patient, Ollie translates science, health, and tech into vivid human stories. His talk will explore how health adversity became a purposeful platform, shaping a successful creative career.
Chloe Watts is a visual communicator whose practice centres around mental health and wellbeing. She works both to process her own experiences and to create for others as a distraction, experimenting with methods like stained glass and mosaics. Her practice serves as a life jacket, keeping her buoyant and her head above water.
Nila Wood is a freelance illustrator represented by The Bright Agency. Nila’s work explores themes of self-discovery and strength. As a second-generation immigrant, she pursued art despite cultural expectations. Motherhood has further shaped her creative journey. Her art reflects identity, balance, transformation, and resilience.
