Remembering David Mostyn, Renowned Cartoonist of The Dandy and The Beano
David Mostyn, who passed away this November, built a rich career illustrating for comic books such as The Dandy and The Beano.

David Mostyn was a British illustrator and cartoonist, known for producing cartoons, caricatures and whimsical artwork for clients globally. His work spans publishing and branding, and throughout his long and rich career, he worked with clients such as Oxford University Press, Penguin, Saatchi and Saatchi and JW Thompson, and for notable authors such as Philip Pullman.
He was perhaps best known for his comic book work, and drew for D.C. Thomson, publishers of the Dandy and Beano comics, from the early 1980s to the 2010s. He also enjoyed public speaking in schools, books shops, on television and at the Edinburgh Festival.

He was a valued member of the Artist Partners family, who represented him for many years. Christine Isteed from Artist Partners pays tribute: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of the legendary artist, and our friend, David Mostyn. We’d like to convey our deepest sympathies to his family and friends.”

Reflecting on his career, Christine notes: “For more than four decades David’s unique style filled the pages of The Dandy, The Beano, School Fun and countless children’s books and commercial projects. From Bertie Buncle to Strange Hill, Danny’s Nanny to Molly, his work brought so much laughter and enjoyment to generations of readers. He was a testament to his industry with his incredible versatility”
Our sympathies are with his friends and family.
